against Casco Viejo Panama City
More days pass, the more I realize the damage produced by American capitalism on the Central American populations. If living in a skyscraper can mean the ultimate goal for a family of average Panamanian social backgrounds, then I wonder if the world is misrepresenting the terms of referencing with respect to what is economic development and cultural development.
From conversations with local people, I realize that-gain-stable economic position is the pinnacle of their aspirations. "Aqui Estamos en la lucha !"... Here is a fight for survival and people pull out with a maximum of $ 200 per month and family dependents. But to fully express their potential really means to be able to have a lot of money in your pocket?? And where the roots are over? A lot of money but contempt for Casco Viejo, the first historic district, San Felipe (for the record, where I'm looking for a house ...).
Cultural development in this area is light years behind economic development and continue to seek a clue to this late ... will be the poor standard of education, will be the brainwashing gringo, you will need to find the daily bread that gives you no time to think about-a-cultural development of its own. Yet the same
UNESCO has put his mark on the protective helmet San Felipe, ignoring and bypassing the ignorance of the local people ... But before declaring it a world heritage site, it would perhaps have been better-culturalization-local residents, prepare to welcome, protect and make money that such a prestigious brand ... This did not happen, and that is why today the Old San Felipe is in the hands of the speculative market of real estate agencies that are managing as if it were meat fed to sharks, with no criteria, no way of restoration, without management equalitaria price ... and then find the homes of poor families that fall alongside elegant stately mansions in the hands of U.S. and Canadian or European.
The contrasts continue to fascinate and draw much of my curiosity ...
