OWNER OF A TALENTED HEART: TREVOR RABIN

Maybe a few people who have never heard "Owner Of A Broken Heart," megahit of Yes weblog 1983. Few, surely, however, are those who know the name of him who was the architect of that sound: Trevor Rabin. Trevor Charles Rabinowitz was born in South Africa January 13, 1954 from a musical family: his father is Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra first violin. As a child takes piano lessons, at age 12 he discovered his talent for guitar rock. In 1974 he formed his first band, Rabbitt, with whom he recorded two albums, Boys Will Be Boys (1975) and A croak & a grunt in the Night (1977), which also earned him national recognition. The Rabbitt, unfortunately, can not go on tour abroad because of the pro apartheid policy of their country, so Rabin decided to leave the band and in 1978 he moved to London to pursue a solo career. Between 1978 and 1980 recorded three albums, "Trevor Rabin" (also known by the title of "Beginnings", 1978), "Face to Face" (1980) and "Wolf" (1981), the latter made the former Cream bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Simon Phillips, in which highlights a rock mature and varied, expressive voice and excellent guitar playing. In 1981, knows Chris Squire and Alan White, drummer and bassist, respectively, of the legendary progressive band Yes, just broke up, and they decided to start a new musical project, which soon took the name of Cinema. A chi ancora non lo conosce consigliamo di recuperare, a parte i dischi incisi con gli Yes - soprattutto i primi due -, almeno il terzo e quarto da solista, considerata la difficile reperibilità dei due cd dei Rabbitt.
Non è detto che, tra un Linkin Park e un Green Day, tra un Interpol e un Kid Rock, per non scomodare le icone dell'hard & heavy o del prog rock, non riesca a ritagliarsi un piccolo spazio nella vostra discografia.
